Mister’s dropped his bacon and is near tantrum trying to find it.

“It’s on his sleeve,” I tell Husband from across the table. “His sleeve. Right there. Hold still, buddy, Daddy will get it.”

Mister continues to search for the bacon at the same time Daddy reaches his arm. The bacon hits the floor.

“Well that went awry,” Husband says.

“That went awry,” Mister repeats.

Awry. He can add that to deciduous, percolating, stupendous, gigantic: the list of words most two-year-olds don’t know.

If you could choose only one word to describe your writing process, what would it be? How about a word for parenting, work, or another aspect of your life?
