Like and As

Like pulling teeth? Who made that up? I’m leaving the dentist. My gums are bleeding. My teeth are sensitive. It should be “like a routine cleaning!”

Sleeping like a baby? Really? That is a good thing? To me, that means waking up screaming and hungry at least once a night.

Sweat like a pig? Blind as a bat? I won’t even go there.

What clichéd similes do you think are way off? What would you like to replace them with?

Happy as a clam. Or happy as a hippo for that matter. Neither of them seem too happy… I don’t know what I replace them with. Happy as a puppy?

Soft as a baby’s bottom. True… but unpleasant. Soft as a baby’s top? No poop there… at least not usually…

Cute as a button…who says a button is cute?
Eat like a bird? I don’t want anyone regurgitating in my mouth, and they eat about three times their weight per day.
Drink like a fish…Do fish drink?
Like taking candy from a baby…Did the person who made that one up ever try to take anything let alone something delicious from a baby?
