And the favorite book this week is…
The Monster at the End of this Book! Thanks, Mary for the suggestion! That is a good one!
There is no “duh” favorite book for me. Instead, I have situational favorites. The Relatives Came was my favorite when I was living in North Carolina and still is any time I’m feeling a little homesick. The Dot by Peter Reynolds is my favorite when I’m feeling down about my writing. Night Night, Little Pookie by Sandra Boynton is my favorite at bedtime. Like Siobhan, Mary, and Katie, I have A LOT of favorites. Here are some others and their situation:
“Stand Back,” said the Elephant, “I’m Going to Sneeze!”: when I’m reminiscing
Why Mosquitos Buzz in People’s Ears: when I’m curious
Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type: when I’m feeling like a silly character
The Giving Tree: when I’m feeling sentimental
The Voice: when I need some guidance or am feeling alone
Chicken Cheeks: when I need some simple humor
Little Bear: when I miss my mother
Blowing Kisses: when I’m proud
I think our favorite books are our favorites because they make us feel or experience something. That is what these do for me.
